Whenever I think of Interlagos I think back to 2003, when Giancarlo Fisichella won the Brazilian Grand Prix for Jordan Grand Prix. That race was so typical of the sort of dramas we have come to expect from this race: There was a massive smash in pouring rain, and the race was red-flagged.

Let me confess something: I love being in Abu Dhabi for the grand prix, but have not as yet been able to put my finger on the reason. I mean, it’s great to have a place relatively close to Europe where we can race in warm weather in mid-November, but that alone is not the reason.

    Alex Hofmann: Valencia Round Up

After the tragic Malaysian Grand Prix the mood in the Valencia paddock ahead of the last race of the 2011 MotoGP season was sombre. It was almost as though we were all pleased to see the end of the championship, and not for happy reasons, either. The crowd seemed to sense the mood, and stayed away: it was the lowest turn-out I have ever seen at a race in Spain despite the fact that Dani Petrosa could still finish third in the championship despite missing two races through injury.

Having visited India a few times on sponsor search missions as a team owner, I was really looking forward to returning here for the first Indian Grand Prix. During those visits I grew to love this place, and believe we can learn so much from the attitude of the people – many of them lead unbelievably hard lives, yet their eyes radiate a peace that is simply unique.

Sunday was a mixed day for a lot of us in MotoGP, but it could not have gotten any better for Casey Stoner. Not only did he win his home round in Phillip Island for the fifth time in succession, but he scored his second world championship – at home, in Australia.

This seems to be a week of congratulations: Since I last blogged from Suzuka, Sebastian Vettel and Red Bull Racing have secured a second consecutive world drivers’ championship, and equally significantly – certainly from my own perspective - is that PUMA has announced a new partnership with MERCEDES GP PETRONAS and Michael Schumacher.

It really is wonderful to be back in Japan. I just love the place, and of course feel a strong connection to the country through having managed many drivers who raced here, plus I used Yokohama tyres in my Formula 3 team, and in Formula 1 we were successful with Bridgestone rubber.

The Japanese Moto Grand Prix promised so much for PUMA’s partner team Ducati, yet in the end delivered just a seventh place for Nicky Hayden. Valentino Rossi, riding the second red bike, was pushed wide and into the gravel on the opening lap, ending the Italian legend’s impressive run of 26 consecutive points’ finishes.

There is no doubt in my mind that Singapore’s Grand Prix is one of the major successes in Formula One’s history. Sometimes you have to introduce ground-breaking changes, and this is one of those. At the time Bernie Ecclestone had the vision for this, no one in their right mind would have thought it would be possible to have all the systems required for a safe Grand Prix at night.
