Usain Bolt is in the running for a “threepeat” for this prestigious athletic award.

On December 15th it was announced that Usain Bolt was once again nominated for the Laureus World Sport Award which honors the top athletes of 2011 for all sports around the globe. This prestigious honor, which Bolt has won in both 2009 and 2010 is intended to highlight athletic excellence and promote international youth participation by donating proceeds to regional charities. Other nominees for this year include Lionel Messi, Novak Djokovic, Cadel Evans, Dirk Nowitzki and Sebastein Vettel.

Considering this elite pool of athletes, even a nomination is a testament to outstanding achievement in sport and we hope you’ll join us in congratulating Usain Bolt and the other nominees for this honor. This years’ winner will be announced February 6th 2012 and perhaps, for the third year in a row, this prestigious accolade will once again go home with the world’s fastest man.
