Will the Azzurri Sink Serbia?

  • Written on:

Italy take on Serbia this evening in what is sure to be a pulsating European qualifying match. The Italians will head into their penultimate fixture full of confidence with qualification already assured, having won seven out of eight games.

The Azzurri have a couple of injuries to worry about and will give some of their younger players a start in what is guaranteed to be a highly charged atmosphere in Beograd. PUMA stars Gianluigi Buffon and Giorgio Chiellini will add some experience to the backline and they will be keen to maintain an already impressive defensive record which has seen them concede just one goal.

But the Serbs, who hope to welcome Nemanja Vidić back to the fold, are an organised outfit and boast a team full of emerging talent that will provide the sternest of tests for Italy. The home side currently occupy second spot in the group and will be hoping to secure a play-off place as they look to qualify for the tournament for the first time in their short history.
