Weekend Guide To...Dublin

  • Written on:

Dublin, Baile Átha Cliath, in Gaelic, is the capital of the Republic of Ireland, situated at the mouth of the River Liffey, it is a historical and contemporary cultural centre for the country, as well as a place for education, the arts, industry and most importantly, the famous Irish “craic”! Dublin is the metropolitan embodiment of the PUMA Social lifestyle – around 50% of the population are 25 or under and are world-renowned for their no-holds barred approach to late night revelry.

So...we decided to send two of our most seasoned After Hours Athletes out to Dublin to discover the best craic the country has to offer! Get the low down with our Dublin weekend guide...

What to eat? For the worldly After Hours Athlete adventure is everything. If you’re feeling really adventurous, we suggest you try the local delicacy of Coddle - consisting of potatoes, sausages, bacon and onions boiled together in water... it tastes better than it sounds, honestly. Not really feeling the Coddle, Dublin has food from all over the globe to tantalize those taste buds. We highly recommend checking out Yamamori on South Great Georges Street for a Japanese extravaganza!

Where to go? A quick nip into Temple Bar with its cobblestone streets, bars, cafés and art galleries is a must visit! But for the discerning After Hours Dubliner who doesn’t easily succumb to the mock authenticity, we suggest taking a trip to the Irish Film Institute bar on your way out to lubricate the gullet and set you up for a proper night out on the town! Visit the Guinness Storehouse for the best pint you will ever have* and follow up with a stop off at Grogan’s pub, where the Guinness is arguably even better...it will be by this point in the evening anyway!! ;)

Where to shop? Grafton Street - this pedestrian street is host to some of the best shops and entertainment in the city. Don’t miss Henry Street for a true feel of the Irish sense of humour and have the craic with some true “dubs”.

What to wear? Fashion in Dublin is all about comfort. This cool-casual denim shirt is the first step on the way to charming your name into the phone book of an Irish siren. #WINNING

Where to party? The Cobblestone provides the perfect setting to start the night, with traditional Irish music and a full selection of Dublin Brewing Company beers. What more could you ask for?! Check out Whelans if you’re feeling particularly bold or head to Copper Face Jacks where the real fun begins!
Cap the night off with a full Irish breakfast in The Gigs Place – the 5am After Hours staple for Dubliners in the know.

What to say? Sláinte!

Translation: Good Health/Cheers!

Great opener with the locals as you don the perfect foam moustache from a pint of the black stuff.
