Night has fallen and we are finally into our watch system. It has been almost a month since I have made a freeze dried dinner and I would be lying if I said I didn't miss it, maybe a little bit at least. Cooking can be fun and it's a nice way to repay the guys for towing me around the world, but it is not fun in the heat we now endure! Two burning kettles only adds to the interior inferno. The food in the pot will remain hot forever I think...and I have a feeling I'll be making a lot less hot coffee this leg.
We are still to the north of the fleet and seemingly happy to be here. The boat is moving well, we are maintaining our high road for the time being, and everyone's looking forward to some very close racing to come. We can see all five boats, or their masthead lights I should say, and there hasn't been much change over the last few hours. We're going upwind in 14 knots of breeze at about 12 knots through the water, and it would be faster were it not for a nasty little chop and shifty winds. But that's all the complaining you'll get out of us. Everyone's happy to be out here doing what we do best!
