Denmark Lose Thrilling Final to France's "Les Experts"

Here at PUMA Football, we’d like to commiserate Denmark’s handball team, who came a close second in the World Championships on Sunday, the handball equivalent of the FIFA World Cup.The 2008  European Champions had high hopes for the tournament that eventually ended with the team matching their best ever result, a 1967 final defeat at the hands of Czechoslovakia.

Ulrik Wilbek’s men can hold their heads high after an unbeaten run that saw them reach the final was ultimately ended at the final hurdle in overtime, following wins against near-neighbours Sweden in the second Group-Stage and Spain in the semis.

There was some good news for Danish handball on Thursday, with the announcement that the Women's Handball World Championship in 2015 will take place in the country, just 12 months after it hosts the 2014 Men’s Handball European Championships.

To celebrate the great performance from the team throughout the Championships, we thought a competition was in order. You can win a signed Denmark Handball shirt and all you have to do is follow us on Twitter at @PUMAFootball
