PUMA athlete Amy Rodriguez has been named to the final 21-player roster of athletes who will be travelling to Germany this summer to compete in the 2011 Women's World Cup. “I’m very excited about the World Cup. It’s nice to know all of my hard work has paid off” Rodriguez comments.
Amy and her teammates just completed a three-week training camp in Florida last Friday and will arrive in Columbus, Ohio, on Monday to begin training for a two-game series against fellow Women’s World Cup qualifier, Japan on May 14th at Columbus Crew Stadium (6:30pm ET on FOX Soccer and FOX Deportes) and May 18th at WakeMed Soccer Park in Cary, NC (7pm ET on ESPN2).
The USA will play its Women’s World Cup Send-Off match on June 5th at Red Bull Arena in Harrison, NJ (2pm EST on ESPN2) before the players go on a break. The team will leave for Austria in mid-June for a pre-season World Cup training camp.
The US, which as been drawn into Group C with Korea DPR, Colombia and Sweden, opens its tournament on June 28th in Dresden against the Koreans in a match that will be broadcast live on ESPN at 11:45am ET.
