A rainy thriller in Belgium with a podium for PUMA

The unsurprisingly rainy weather of Spa Grand Prix made it an exciting battle with a good result for the PUMA supplied Formula 1 teams.

After a great qualifying Marc Webber started from the pole position, but a poor start left him in 6th position.
However he took advantage of the problems and mistakes of the drivers ahead and still finished in a great 2nd place.
By reaching his 7th podium this season he indeed lost his first position in the World Championship standings to the Grand Prix winner Lewis Hamilton, but is still only 3 points behind Hamilton on the second place.
Furthermore Red Bull Racing is still heading the Constructors Championship.

Mark Webber: “The start was a mess, but fortunately I was able to overtake a few guys and get some of the positions back. It was a good day for me, but unfortunate for the team that we didn’t get more points.”

Sebastian Vettel had a less successful race after two collisions and a drive-through penalty finishing in 15th place, but still is in a great third place in the overall World Championship standings within touching distance to Hamilton and Webber.

Sebastian Vettel: “What happened, happened. We can’t change it now. Obviously I’m not proud of it, I lost the car going over the bump as I was braking and unfortunately hit Jenson, so he couldn’t continue – I’m sorry for him.”

Christian Horner: “A great drive by Mark today, it was a very mature drive after a bad start – and it was great pit work by the guys to get Mark out ahead of Kubica. For Sebastian, everything that could happen today did happen unfortunately. Not a great weekend for him. But to come away from a track that we always knew would suit the McLarens with a second place was a great result.”
