There was a hugely exciting battle for the lead between the Red Bull drivers and a brilliant result for Mercedes AMG Petronas, with Lewis Hamilton coming third and Nico Rosberg fourth. It was Lewis’s first podium for his new team.
The race had it all: rain in the early stages, controversy at the front and some sublime driving. Even in the pits there was drama with Jenson Button and Force India’s chances of good results ending with wheelnut problems. And it was hot!

Well, what a fantastic opening race of the season in Melbourne: six different leaders in the opening 20 laps, lots of incidents and three world champions standing on the podium. An exciting season lies ahead of us!
After the disappointment of not getting to see the completion of qualifying on Saturday, the fans had plenty to look forward to on raceday. They got two for the price of one: qualifying at 11am and then the race at 5pm.
I got to hang out all around the racetrack over the weekend and got to check out some nice sights. Take a look at my pictures!
The season-closing Brazilian Grand Prix was a thriller from start-to-finish. It had everything: overtaking, rain, crashes, Safety Cars and the crowning of a new world champion. Perhaps unsurprisingly, the tabloids have dubbed the race the “Stunner in Sao Paulo”.
Eric watched the race from the pits, where he kept an eye on Puma’s various partner teams. After 71 laps of racing, he was an emotional wreck – along with the global TV of 350 million people.

“The whole weekend has surpassed my expectations,” said F1 commercial boss Bernie Ecclestone. “Twelve months ago there wasn’t even a race, yet here we are. Everything is good; everyone is happy. The governor says we’ll get an even bigger crowd next year than we did this year.”
The post-race party continued late into Sunday night. Former F1 team principal Eddie Jordan was spotted playing the drums at a random bar long past midnight and 1996 world champion Damon Hill took to the base guitar elsewhere. Huge fun all round.
