The Mighty Proud Desert Foxes

The "1, 2, 3, viva l'Algerie" chant has been following PUMA Football throughout the stay in Herzoganauch with the Algerian team. The Algerian fans have come from near and far to be with their boys before they leave tomorrow for South Africa.

Fans traveled from France, Germany, Italy and the UK to see their beloved team play one more time before they enter the world stage... But it wasn’t just 100 or 200 fans that showed up – over 15,000 Algerian fans (mostly Algerians) packed the sold out stadium for this friendly game in a small town outside of Nuremberg.

This game wasn’t about winning or losing (though they scored 2 beautiful goals against Emirates), but it was a send off. If that’s not loving football...not sure what is.

Majid Bougherra told PUMAFootball, “When you come to the national team, you first have the country to represent, it’s a big, big, big responsibility. There are more than 30 million – in a euro club, its like 1 million. It’s not the same; your country is your love… Everyone on the team loves the country so much. And this is the key of our success…we have a lot of solidarity, we play for one thing – for the country… its hard to explain, its in the heart.“

Hassan Yebda told PUMAFootball, “When I was young I dreamt of going the world cup, now next week, and now we play, next week, the first game against Slovenia, its unbelievable to me and to my family as well!”
