Serbia Stuns Germany

The little too card-happy referee seemed to confuse his role with a croupier and shoved them out. Leading to veteran, Klose being sent off, and only minutes after, something Serbia capitalized on. Boom. Serbia up against Germany. This newly revitalized Germany that has the second youngest average aged squad (25) but fifth most experienced (48 World Cup games in the squad, before the World Cup) and the only team that really impressed in the group stage was now in an unusual position.

Not even a mistake by the otherwise so marvelous defender Nemanja Vidic could help the Germans. The record for the team who gets a man sent off is still without victory. This is Serbia’s first World Cup and it was their day today. Captain Dejan Stankovic has now represented three different countries in the World Cup (1998 Yugoslavia, 2006 Serbia-Montenegro and 2010 Serbia) and now got the chance to celebrate their first win. Serbia deservedly clinched three points and are definitely back in the game in Group D.
