Samuel Eto'o wins the African Player of the Year award for a record fourth time.

Sam the man!

We’re all celebrating the news that Samuel Eto’o has been named African player of the Year for the fourth time! Yes, the fourth time people! An incredible achievement.

All in all, it’s been a great couple of days for Sam – fresh off the back of winning the Club World Cup and finishing as top goal scorer, he’s been crowned his continent’s best player.

The word ‘legend’ is often bandied about to describe mediocre, Prima donnas, however, in the case of Eto’o, he is more than worthy of the tag. Success seems to follow him around and Sam is also the first player to achieve back to back trebles, after a couple of trophy laden seasons at Barcelona and then Inter Milan.

If George Weah was the African player of the nineties, Eto’o is definitely the man of the noughties! Long may it continue! Sam the man will rightly be able to look back on a fantastic 2011.

Samuel Eto’o, we salute you!
