Carrick and Vidic Make it to the Last Four

PUMA and Manchester United stars Michael Carrick and Nemanja Vidić produced a dominant display last night as they progressed to the Champions League semi-finals.

The rock solid defender turned in an assured performance, leading from the back to limit the visitor’s goal scoring opportunities, whilst Carrick was his usual, assured self, fresh off the back of bossing the first leg which his side won 1-0.
Somewhat inevitably, the home side controlled large portions of the game without looking too threatening, but took a one goal lead into the half-time break after a flowing team move.  The well worked goal was tough on the visitors who had looked well organised up until that point.
The second-half was typically close, but on 70 minutes the visitors were reduced to 10 men which enabled Carrick and his teammates to let the ball do the work and the game was akin to a master class in keeping possession. But on 77 minutes the game sprung into life with two goals being scored in the space of a minute! The Premiership champions had looked to be cruising before a moment of magic led to the visitors grabbing a goal on the break.
The game looked to be getting closer, but with the visitors still celebrating their goal, the Red Devils struck at the far post to go 3-1 up on aggregate. Normal service was resumed for the rest of the match with Carrick spraying the ball around and Vidić shoring up the side’s defence until the final whilst.
Carrick and Vidic both possess a strong track record on the European stage and will go into the semi-final as favourites, but you can tell us using the PUMA Life Scoreboard if you think they will make it all the way to final on 28 May 2011 at Wembley Stadium.

Life’s more fun when you’re keeping score!
