Mover and Shaker

There are many mysterious things about Olivier Giroud. (Just take a look at his arms: his right is tattooed with a Biblical phrase; his left tattooed with Polynesian symbols for family, courage, love, and strength.) But his football skills? No mystery there. After several years in the French third and second divisions, Giroud has made his way with his physical style. (Coming in at 6’4” will do that to you.) After spending six years in Grenoble’s youth academy, Giroud signed his first professional contract at the age of 19. He continued his development and in Tours – another Ligue 2 team where he played for two years – was named the Ligue 2 Player of the Year. He then joined French Ligue 1 team club Montpellier and scored 12 goals during his first season in the French elite. With the French National Team, he scored his first career international goal against Germany on 29 February 2012. His constant progress and growth are shaping him into a major player in France and beyond. Most recently, he hopped across the Channel and signed with Arsenal. He has since made London his home, and enjoys his “off pitch” time shopping, dining, and exploring golf courses throughout England.
