Rui Patricio

Roaring to the Future

Rui Patrício is not your typical footballer—he has no superstitions. He was bred in Portugal, but harbors quite an obsession for Italy. Why? Because Italy bred Ferraris and his idol, Gigi Buffon. Nicknamed “Marrazes” for his birthplace (a very tiny Portuguese village), Patrício has moved from small town to world stage with his impressive skills and admirable drive. He began as a striker but soon moved to the net. Since 2006, he has played as a Lion with Sporting Lisbon. At age 18, he debuted with Sporting’s first team and saved a decisive penalty. For Patrício, the future is bright and just getting started.
